Sofia presented under the topic “Adding content, fun and simplicity into the mobile user experience”. Her point was that beauty equals fun and simplicity. Still, most mobile GUIs looks like Windows 95 and its about time we spice up the experience for the users’ sake. Users are different and crave different styles of GUI. It is more fun to use something that says: "Hey, I know who you are and what you like" than accidentally birthed pebbles of crap shaped little icons.
One of Sofias slides showed the work of Erik and Andreas, two students from Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm. They had been given an assignment of designing a main menu for a specific target group. They chose to design a GUI for a group they called "Extreme Telemark Skiiers". Although this design turned out to be rated "R" it was obvious it spoke the same language as its' users.
