The Fifth International Symposium on Human Computer Interaction with Mobile Devices and Services is organised by the HCI Lab and professor Luca Chittaro at University of Udine in Italy. The symposium has participants and attendees from a wide range of international institutions and companies. The Program Committee with members from institutes such as MIT Media Lab and Carnegie Mellon, as well as representatives from Nokia, Sony, Microsoft and Philips chose Ocean Observations to host a seminar on the topic “Visual and Interaction Design for 3G Mobile Phone Interfaces”. “As Interaction Designers with a user centred focus, we are at best disappointed with how new features are used in interactive medias - and at worst we are nauseous”, says Anders Norman, Interaction Designer at Ocean Observations, and continues “This tutorial will not change the way the world is spinning, but hopefully it can encourage the participants to think user centric and see the good it is bringing.” Jesper Wiking, Visual Designer at Ocean Observations is triggered to teach the fundamental as well as mobile specific principles of—among other aspects—iconography and animation. “In my mind most mobile phones on the market lack concepts targeted towards the specific customers and it is time to change this ‘stereotypic’ vision and raise the quality of the graphic user interfaces.” For more information please feel free to contact Sofia Svanteson, CEO.
