A 45 minutes seminar on User Centred Design for Mobile Phones and Services As the content and the services get richer, the focus of the mobile industry will shift from hardware design to interaction design, or rather the combination of exterior and interior design. This is a “no-brainer“. But the art of designing useable, useful and beautiful interfaces and services is a complicated issue. Planning research is complicated, doing research is hard and turning the results into creative, innovative and useful concepts is the hardest part of it all. The methodology we propose for meeting these challenges is called User Centred Design. Purpose of the Seminar We will not only speak about the importance of User Centred Design, but focus on the tools and methods. The lecture will be built on a case study based on a recent mobile phone project. We will focus on the benefits of user centred techniques, from research to final product. We will discuss cultural differences and how to adapt user research findings to concept, interactions and visual design of a User Interface for a third generation mobile phone. About the speakers Sofia is a Senior Interaction Designer and has during the last year worked with GUI concept development and interaction design for an upcoming mobile phone for Samsung Electronics. Anders is a Strategist and Interaction Designer. Before joining Ocean he was a member of the Razorfish European Leadership Team. Interested?
